MAC has begun administering the Minnesota Heals Family Support Fund. The MN Heals Family Support fund was created to provide financial support for families impacted by a law enforcement deadly-use-of-force incident. This fund can provide financial resources for the funeral and burial of a family’s loved one, as well as mental health services.

MAC has a history of advocating for much needed systemic reforms and financial investment for individuals, families, and communities who experience violence and trauma. The MN Heals Family Support Fund will now allow MAC to advocate for families, impacted by a law enforcement deadly-use-of-force incident, in a much needed and tangible way.  MAC looks forward to building and strengthening relationships with grassroot efforts around the state to comprehensively support families when they experience a traumatic loss of a loved one.

MAC is committed to continuing to provide support and resources that are guided by our core values. All of MAC’s work is rooted in equity that prioritizes underserved communities and MAC works to increase equitable outcomes for all those impacted by crime across all systems. MAC’s Director of Operations, Amee Krogfus, will be the contact for families and advocates who may be working with eligible family members.  For more information and to access the MN Heals Family Support Fund application, please visit MAC’s website:  mnallianceoncrime.org/resources/mhfsf/

If you, or someone you know, has been impacted by the tragic loss of a loved one in a law enforcement deadly-use-of-force incident, between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2025, please contact Amee Krogfus: amee@mnallianceoncrime.org | 612-940-8090 x105 for more information on the Minnesota Heals Family Support Fund.

In peace,

Extreme Risk Protection Orders

Free Webinar
ERPO%20Training%20Header%20(2).png
March 6th, 2024
12pm-1:30pm CT

Effective January 1, 2024, Minnesota law allows certain people to request an order from the court to prohibit someone from purchasing or possessing a firearm. This type of order is called an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO). Although the term is not used in the Minnesota law, laws that authorize these types of orders are often called “red flag” laws. An ERPO may be issued if a person poses a significant danger of bodily harm to others and/or is at significant risk of suicide if they possess a firearm.

Presenter Rana Alexander, Esq. of Standpoint will explain the new law as well as how it will be handled by the courts and law enforcement. This session will help you to better explain this new protection order to victims and help them through the process of filing for and enforcing it.

This webinar is free for all to attend. The webinar will be recorded and the recording will be made available exclusively for MAC members.
